A project fund of £12.5k was made available by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Sovereign Housing Association Limited for the second round of funding enabling local community based organisations to implement projects in Buckskin and/or South Ham.
On Saturday 24 January 2015 between 11am and 3pm, the public voted for the projects that applied for funding through the Neighbourhood Partnership for Buckskin and South Ham. Voting took place simultaneously at the Ridgeway Centre in Buckskin and Westside Community Centre in South Ham. Groups had the opportunity to promote their project through displays and attend to talk to those voting.
A total of 165 people turned out to vote. Each voter was asked to identify on a map where they lived or worked in the wards of Buckskin or South Ham. Each was given two votes to cast across two different projects; 39% of votes were cast at the Ridgeway Centre in Buckskin and 61% of the votes were cast at Westside Community Centre in South Ham.
Altogether £15,565.65 of funding was sought for eleven projects that covered areas such as children and young people, older people, health and wellbeing, community (general) and emergency planning. Less than half the applications were for the maximum amount of £2000. The smallest bid was for £500. Seven projects secured the public vote and received the full amount of funding that they had asked for. One project received half the amount of money they asked for.
